Gameplay Overview

The Icarus Experiment is a narrative-driven, choice-based adventure game set aboard the UNE Hyperion, a spaceship that harbors deep secrets following a catastrophic experiment gone awry. In this tension-filled, sci-fi universe, players navigate through a series of puzzles, moral dilemmas, and hidden dangers, unraveling the mystery of what led to the ship's demise.

  • Branching Narrative: Choose how you wish to proceed with different events throughout the game. Each decision can have an impact on what you learn throughout the game and can influence what you choose to do.
  • Environmental Investigation: Discover what happened on the UNE Hyperion by inspecting terminals, reading ship logs, and discovering clues in the environment.
  • Point & Click Puzzles: Players navigate the space station, interact with objects and solve puzzles through a simple 2D point-and-click interface.
  • Customize your character: Choose from 3 distinct uniforms and access unique dialogue options based on what you choose.

Story

You wake from hypersleep on the seemingly deserted UNC Hyperion, with no memory of your identity or your mission. Discover the truth behind the disaster that befell the ship and its crew. What is The Icarus Experiment and what happened to it?

Install instructions

For Windows:

  1. Unzip the downloaded file: Right-click on the downloaded ZIP file and select "Extract All" (or use a similar option) to unzip the files to a location of your choice.
  2. Open the extracted folder: Navigate to the folder where you extracted the files.
  3. Run the executable: Double-click the file "The Icarus Experiment.exe".

For MacOS:

  1. Unzip the downloaded file: Double-click the downloaded ZIP file to unzip it. This will create the "The Icarus Experiment.app" file.
  2. Run the executable:  Double-click the "The Icarus Experiment.app" file  to start the game. If you see a security prompt, click "Open" to confirm.
